HEALTH || 5 Tips on Destressing

Hello loves,

Its been a minute. How has everyone been doing? These past weeks have been so stressful and draining to say the least. From the long lectures, bitter lecturers to the unending exams, Medical school is no joke.
Since my week is totally taken over by school, the only time I have to relax is the weekend. During which I’m feeling guilty of not reading half the time.

Either ways, I’m sure we all experience stress once in a while (or every time like me) so I’m going to share a few ways I always take to destress (because body no be firewood)

5 Ways To Destress

Open the window

A gesture as simple as opening your window can help to destress. Fortunately, my apartment has this huge ass window with a very nice view of Manila City. So I always open it up (mostly at night) and just stare at the tall buildings, lights, and the sky..taking your mind off work to appreciate nature is a great stress reliever.

It’s impossible to escape stress when it follows you everywhere. Cut the cord. Avoid emails and social media (I know this seems impossible but it really is).
I usually just put off my network or put my phone on silence and hide it (So don’t take it personal when I don’t reply messages on time. I’m either busy, destressing or actually snubbing you Lol) When I’m ready I’ll get back to instagraming.
*though, looking through inspiring/beauty posts on instagram and YouTube can also be a good stress reliever.

Take a walk

While just about any walk will help to clear your head and boost endorphins (which, in turn, reduces stress hormones), consider walking in a park or other green space, which can actually put your body into a state of meditation.
This weekend I had a photo shoot in a different city from mine, so my long train ride was equivalent to a walk. I had so much time to reflect.

Snack it up

Eating or drinking anything sweet can be soothing. Get some ice cream or chocolate. Focus on your food: its texture, the way it tastes, how it makes you feel. Now you’ve turned your snack into a meditation. Lol I’m serious

Watch a viral video

Entertainment is an amazing way to take your brain off work and just relax. That video people have been tweeting about, the one that your friends have been sharing clips of on instagram, go search for it and watch.
I saw clips of a Yoruba movie (yes I watch Yoruba movies, just for the laughs tho and because Odunlade) called ‘Ajenipa’ this past weekend on IG. So yes I took time off and laughed my ass out. I even shared clips on my snapchat (@muuchinto) while watching.

These are some of the ways I’ve employed to reduce stress and just really relax. What do you do when you are stressed?
