Welcome to the ’ember’ months. The year 2016 is almost done so i feel we should start planning Christmas presents by now or what do you think??

Before moving on, I’ll like to say a huge ass thank you for all the feedback i got from last months newsletter. You guys are amazing, really! I really didn’t think it would resonate as much with so many people but appaz it did and i was smiling all through it.

One of many….. No better feeling than making someone’s day? <3 <3 .

In that note, the newsletter for August is running a little behind schedule but it will be sent out by the weekend so if you’re still not signed up, please do so HERE … C’mon, It is free -_-

As you might have noticed from the posts title, this is a continuation of the Sneakers Series i started last month, quickly catch up on the first post if you missed it. From double denim, we move on to androgynous blues.

Waistcoats are most often than not seen simply as a mere part of a formal menswear(the three piece suits) so usually, only really dapper men wear waistcoats on regular days simply because their style level is above average. But the gag is, its so much more than just a fraction of a set and styling it couldn’t be easier. Waistcoats are the perfect clothing item to make use of in exercising your androgynous side plus they can pretty much revamp your wardrobe 😉

I got this patterned blue waistcoat from my elder brother’s closet many years ago (maybe something like 5 years). At the time it wasn’t his size anymore because “growing muscle to terrorize the girls” and he wanted to dash it out but i just grabbed it. See i never thought of wearing it even cause that wasn’t my style at the time but the lil thang was too cute so i grabbed it and threw it in my closet. 5 years later and we are here slaying together. (i must have been really tiny for it to be fitting me now)

Recently I’ve been more on the clean minimal makeup look(whatever that is). What do you guys think?

Not sure of how to style a waistcoat, here are a few tips:

  • Fit is the most important thing. A waistcoat is supposed to create a streamlined shape and a poor-fitting one will leave you looking scruffy.
  • If you need to look smart; button up. Looking to go casual, use just 1- 2 buttons and leave the rest open like i did here.
  • If you’re going to wear a tie, make sure it sits neatly underneath the waistcoat, and doesn’t peek out from the bottom.
  • Unless you’re going for an event that is strictly black tie, you can definitely experiment with colors, fabrics and textures.
  • Waistcoats suit all shapes and sizes so go for it.
  • A higher cut V-neck is recommended if you’re wearing it under a suit jacket as it allows you to show off the fact that you’re actually wearing a waistcoat.
  • Not too tight and not too short either.

There are a lot of do’s and don’ts regarding fit but not so much as with styling. Being one of the major pieces of menswear, there’s really no reason why you shouldn’t own one or four waistcoats already! More so if you are about that androgynous life.

What do you think about this outfit? Would you wear this? How would you have styled it differently?

Until next time, but be sure to catch up in the comment box below 😀

I would wear heels with this outfit, but only because I’m not into sneakers if it’s not for exercise. I know… I’m crazy. 😛

Anyways, you just made me remember my waistcoat. And now I don’t remember where it is. 🙁
