Are you SS17 Ready?

This year is going to be all about bold statements and bright colors, so expect to see the quirky, the wacky and the wonderful hitting the streets as the weather gets warmer. SS17 style is focused around nostalgia, from the revival of 80’s fashion to memories of childhood seaside holidays, so get creative with your style choices in the coming seasons.

The Return of the 80’s: Fashion Week has set the vibe for the upcoming Spring and Summer trends, last season was all about the 90’s, but SS17 is bringing a revival of the 80’s. Expect to see bold statements, bright colors, and big hair. Baggy 80’s clothing is going to become popular as the weather gets warmer, so ladies if you like to steal your boyfriends baggy sports tees, then now you have the best excuse! A style that is going to catch on quickly this year is pairing a baggy T-Shirt with bicycle shorts…remember you heard it here first!

Seaside Stripes: One of this years’ fashion trends is going to be the embodiment of ice cream weather. Think seaside holidays, deck chairs and weathered umbrellas. The runways at Fashion Week saw countless looks of beach colors and “seaside stripes” that have a real nostalgic feel to them and are going to be a wardrobe staple this year. This SS17 trend is the cousin of the nautical stripe, so last seasons’ blue and white stripes are going to be salvageable for another year!

Sporty Chic: Athletic inspired looks are going to grow in popularity as the weather gets warmer, after the runway was filled with “easy elegance” looks at Fashion Week, it is clear that comfort and style is here to stay. Expect to see a rise in popularity for luxurious sporty footwear and trainers this SS17. This year designers like Android Homme have given trainers a makeover that marries style and comfort together. Now you will be able to wear trainers anytime anywhere and feel 10/10.

Style and Statement: After all of the explosive events over the past year, 2017 is going to be all about people standing together and celebrating individuality, culture and style. “Activist chic” is going to be huge this SS17. With designers like Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri heralding the way by creating a “we should all be feminist” T-Shirt; and Stella McCartney continually bringing ethics to the forefront of fashion, stating “girls thanks, no fur, no leather”, it’s clear that 2017 is about being heard. What better way to make a statement in SS17 than to wear it?
