“Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 18:3

The day i dreaded finally came and i had to travel back to school in Manila. Mixed emotions and all, i got to the airport, checked in and was now waiting to board the plane. This was of course after saying my final goodbye to my wonderful family.

One thing that kept popping up in my head was “Who was going to be sitting beside me for the first 6 hours thereabout that was my flight from Lagos to Addis ababa?” . Somehow i have always been unlucky to always end up sitting by the most random people during all my alone flying time and it was now becoming a thing. I really just wanted to sit by someone i could at least have a conversation with and not end up sleeping and just waking up for the food like i have done every other time lol.

Was i lucky? Absolutely. I ended up being with the cutest baby (5 year old) girl and her mother and it sure was an eventful journey.

I settled in quickly and was taking my last breathe of Nigerian air when the little girl said hello to me. I responded while smiling back at  her. She was just really cute! I then exchanged smiles with her mum and then it was time to take off.

Not too long after the seat belt signs were turned off, this cute baby turned to me and kept smiling. I guess she was looking for approval cause not too long after i smiled back she rested her head on my shoulders and you could tell she was now settled in for the journey. Such a free spirited girl i thought to myself.

Her mother quickly cautioned her to rather rest on her but i told her it was okay. Hours later after eating, she turned to smile at me again and i was wondering, what next was she up to? She proceeded to take her head pillow, placed it on my thighs and literally just laid down with her legs stretched out on her mothers and off she went to sleep.

I couldn’t help but laugh. This little kid was something. She took my arms and wrapped it around herself, held it in place the whole time she slept. Her mother tried to apologize lol but really it was absolutely fine with me.

I mean, who says no to a cute baby girl?

The rest of the flight was fun, fun and a little more fun. We gisted (baby girl talk), played and laughed all the way to addis ababa. When it was time to get off the plane, i went ahead to get my luggage from the overhead bin and stood by the passage waiting to leave. The little girls mother sat down and was waiting for everyone to leave first but little girl wasn’t having it. She stood up, wore her jacket and shoes, held my hand  and told her mother bye cause she was going with me. This was too funny. Mother had to just get up and leave at the same time as i was with everyone else so i assisted with my new friend all the way till we had to go separate ways to catch our connecting flights.

We shared hugs and goodbyes and waved till we lost sight of each  other. This was definitely one trip i enjoyed.

All these opened my eyes to how free little children are and how much life would be easier for us all if we had a heart as theirs. The true friendships we would be able to form, the trust we would be able to build and just pure laughter. This is sure why the Bible tells us that we have to be as little children to enter into the kingdom of God.

I definitely felt like a child twirling in this puffy skirt on the street in my neighborhood. By this time i had gotten used to the stares from lagosians i talked about in my last Lade takes Lagos post. I was trying to get the perfect twirling pose when all of a sudden the rather quiet road decided to get busy and it turned out to be a one minute twirling and the next running to the road side kind of shoot. After endless trials and error, i gave up. Who said blogging/taking pictures was easy?!

It was still fun and i thoroughly enjoyed shooting this. I didn’t think much into the outfit really, i just wanted to wear this puffy skirt and the print shirt seemed like the perfect match for it and boom- ready to slay.

S/O to my photographer  (@orionpixels) though, he was also involved in the running haha.

What do you think about the outfit? Have you also had any interesting flight experience?

I’ll love to read in the comment below 🙂

I for one know how challenging it is to take pictures in public, the stares and constant photo bombing.
You look beautiful and I love your whole outfit.
